Dhanush
seems desperate to get his star status a
notch higher. He has been looking for different
ways to do this. The most obvious way is
of course to be part of hit movies, but
then that is not so easy. This is when his
better half reportedly suggested that he
endorse some popular brand and appear in
its ads. She thinks that if he is constantly
seen on TV, his fans and others will remain
faithful to him.
This
spurred Dhanush to send envoys to
many popular brands expressing his
willingness to endorse their products.
The list of companies that Dhanush
preferred includes automobile and
software giants.
Unfortunately, the companies were
not impressed with his recent track
record at the box office and decide
that his current popularity ratings
were not worth a contract and conveyed
this message to him without mincing
any words. Dhanush’s reaction
to this is not known, but someone
seems to have been watching the entire
episode unfolding.
A
local giant offered Dhanush a contract to
endorse their product. This company is well
known for it’s large expenditures
on publicity. But this time it was Dhanush’s
turn to spell out refusal. He refused the
company’s offer, the reason for which
is not very clear. It is surprising and
disappointing at the same time to know that
Dhanush was eager to endorse the products
of MNCs but unwilling to do the same for
an Indian company. Maybe he thought that
endorsing an Indian brand would not give
him the same mileage as endorsing an international
product would.
