Dhanush, Vadivelu and Trisha are the three main
affected protagonists and though they are hundreds
of kilometers apart, all three are in the same
boat. Let’s look at the status of three
films of Kollywood under production but facing
a delay due to the monsoons.
First up, rains coming down heavily in Nellai,
Thoothukudi and Thiruchendur have dampened the
spirits of the Yaradi Nee Mohini crew, currently
camped on these locations, on a schedule that
was originally planned to run for 20 days. However,
with rains and overcast conditions causing intermittent
delays and in some instances full days without
a single shot being canned, the schedule looks
to be going well beyond its scheduled dates unless
the crew get fed up and decide to erect a set
within a studio which at the moment looks unlikely.
Vadivelu’s second film as lead actor too
is taking some beating. Indralogathil Na Azhagappan
crew is currently stationed in Kuttralam. Here
too the situation is no different from the one
in Thoothukudi. The heavens have opened up and
shooting has been stalled. Continuous rain has
almost put a complete stop to shooting but the
determined crew has been canning a few shots whenever
the clouds decide to give the sun a peek at the
ground. But at the end of the day the crew’s
determination is not adding up too much as the
film ends up moving at a snail’s pace.
Shift location to Kerala. A change in location
has not changed the luck. This time Prakash Raj
and Trisha are cooling their heels in Munnar hoping
that the rain would show some mercy. Abiyum Naanum,
the Duet Movies production, starring Trisha in
a never before seen role is the movie getting
delayed by the rains. But an element of bad timing
seems to be involved in this delay. It is never
wise to venture into Munnar at this time of the
year hoping for dry weather and bright light,
when even Chennai cannot be trusted.
So, that’s the story of three films and
their annoyingly identical problems. Yes, these
things do happen and have to be taken into stride.
Ironical as it is, as all of Tamil Nadu prays
for timely rains to avoid a summer of plastic
pots and tanker lorries, the film industry has
no choice but to pray for the rains to stay away.
Guess the prayers of the majority were answered.
