Moreover, lack of marketing could also play
an important role in the poor turnout.
Second in the line is Sringaram, a movie which
is seeing the light after many months. It is worth
mentioning here that this film has clinched three
national awards and two state awards. Sringaram
is about the Dasi culture and is targeted at the
elite audience. Once again, lack of marketing
could play spoilsport in this movie’s success.
The third one is the Bollywood entry GO. This
Ram Gopal Verma’s flick has also been in
the cans for quite a while. GO stars RGV’s
favorite Nisha Kothari and debutant Gautam. Considering
RGV’s recent poor form, this action film
is bound for a poor turnout too; while another
factor could be its delayed release.
Moving on to Hollywood entry Next - no confusions
here! Next happens to be the name of the new action
thriller. This Nicholas Cage movie was a disaster
at the US box-office and its success in the Indian
market also looks bleak.
So, let’s move on to the next movie –
a Bollywood entry - Chaddon Na Yaar. This film
is supposed to be a suspense thriller with Jimmy
Shergill in the lead. The only thing that is in
Chaddon Na Yaar’s favor is the popular music.
But expect the movie to be taken off by the end
of this week.
Kollywood’s third entry is Veeramum Eeramum,
where Saravanan, after drawing the attention of
the audience for his role in Paruthiveeran, is
back with another village story.
There is absolutely no word about this movie and
the response from the preview shows have been
very average. This naturally means that Veeramum
Eeramum will surely find it tough to stay afloat
in the market and that too with the biggies lining
up to enter the fray in a few weeks time.
Next in the line is Thavam. Arun Kumar is back
with Thavam, after a hiatus, which is produced
by ‘Action King’ Arjun. Even though
the movie was not promoted properly, the buzz
is very positive for this drama. Thavam is solely
relying on word of mouth and we just hope that
the movie does justice to that.
Now for the two Hollywood entries, one is 28
Weeks Later and the other is Disturbia. Twenty-eight
Weeks Later is the sequel to the successful 28
Days Later. People who can digest excessive graphic
violence could be the target audience for this
film. The movie has come out good and will impress
the fans.
Now for the modern version of the Alfred Hitchcock’s
classic “Rear Window” - Disturbia.
The movie is a heart pounding story about a boy
under house arrest, who thinks that his neighbor
maybe a serial killer. The movie has been made
on a larger scale and is very entertaining. If
you have time and want looking for some entertainment
then this is the best option.
Now for the behindwoods pick of the week
Behindwoods.com pick of the week is Kattradhu
Tamil
The trailer and music have evoked enough buzz
among the audience and the movie is hailed by
the hero as his career best and a classic. So
the expectations were a little on the higher side.
The movie has fulfilled its promise and more.
Jeeva, as the protagonist, has done a brilliant
job. The director, Ram, from Balu Mahendra’s
school of film making has done an exceptional
job.
Kattradhu Tamil is sure to be termed as a milestone
in the Tamil cinema industry. And the Bollywood
celebrities, who are fighting for the Oscar selection,
kindly stop all that and send this instead.
Verdict – first watch Kattradhu Tamil,
and get Disturbia.
