Even
before the ripples created by the 2005
hit Chandramukhi settled down, talks are
already on for the sequel. If you might
remember, Chandramukhi broke all the box
office records and stayed in the theatres
for an undaunted 500 days. The movie has
showcased Jyothika’s unexplored
talents and she reached the heights of
her career as soon as the movie hit the
theatres.
Chandramukhi
was inspired from the Malayalam national
award winner ‘Manichitrathalu’
and the Kannada version of the same
‘Aptamitra’. However,
the Kannada version did not have the
duet and the opening dance numbers
and the famous Vettaiyan character.
Those sequences were added to spice
up the movie and to add Rajini’s
touch to it. Director Vasu, in a recent
press statement stated that he is
planning to direct the sequel to Chandramukhi.
But the sequel will first be filmed
in Kannada and later will be imported
to Tamil, sources say.
However,
the project is still in the conceptualization
stage and it is not known whether Rajini
will be interested in taking up the sequel
– which would be first time in his
career. But for now, the superstar does
not have time to breath between his backbreaking
schedules of Sivaji.
