Vallavan, the Diwali’s most
expected extravaganza met the scissor
hands, i.e, censor and escaped with
a few cuts with the consent of the
director Simbu. Earlier, the movie
was screened to the censor officials
for its release on Diwali day. The
censor crew after viewing Vallavan
suggested a few cuts particularly
in the lengthy smooches enacted by
Simbu and Nayantara.
If you may well remember, the Simbu
– Nayantara smooch hoardings
of Vallavan which were displayed all
over the city sparked huge controversy
and outrage among the city’s
conventional lot and eventually served
as a publicity for the movie. Upon
the insistence of the officials to
snip the scenes to shorten the length
of the movie, Simbu agreed for the
same.
It
is also reported that Simbu agreed to
sacrifice certain scenes to the scissors
when the officials raised objection. Following
this, Vallavan has been granted with U/A
certificate and is ready for Diwali release,
hypothetically that is.
