After
generating thunderstorms and splashes
in the box office, it is time for Lage
Raho Munnabhai to do some serious competition
in the Oscars. You heard it right, Lage
Raho Munnabhai is going to be sent as
an independent entry from India for the
coveted Oscars. Do not be confused folks;
Rang De Basanthi is of course India’s
official entry to the Oscars. RDB is an
entrant in the foreign film category while
Munnabhai is competing as an independent
entrant.
Owing
to the astonishing success of the
Munnabhai sequel Lage Raho, the producer
Vidhu Vinod Chopra has decided to
send it to the Oscars. Since the movie
is released all over in the US, it
qualifies itself for the independent
entry and Ken Naz of Eros International,
US is preparing official documents
for the movie’s entry into Oscars,
Vinod clarified.
The fan mails which we received in
support of the movie gave us enough
back up to send Lage Raho to the Academy,
Vinod said. Last year Morning Raga
competed in the independent entry
while Paheli was the official entrant
from India in the foreign language
category.
The
foreign language category confines the
movie for a single award, however the
movie in independent category qualifies
to compete for all the awards the academy
confers.
