Viji, director of Vellithirai, says that the
film’s similarities to OSO stem from the
fact that this film is also set around the tinsel
town and the comparison ends there. Vellithirai
as many of the readers may be aware of is a remake
of the Malayalam hit Udhayananu Thaaram which
starred Mohanlal, Sreenivas and Meena. He also
made it clear that it does have a few comic takes
on the working of the industry but is not a parody,
as it is being made out to be. Viji while stating
that the film’s shooting is almost over
with only the songs remaining to be shot went
on to say that the movie will hit the screens
in January.
