The overseas rights of the movie were sold for
17 lacs to Mr.Nag ravi. The prints were handed
over to him and were supposed to be flown to Malaysia
yesterday. However, much to the astonishment of
those waiting at the airport to receive the prints
were in for a surprise as it hadn't reached there
on time. This led to the producer S. Nandagopal
and director Thamizhvaanan getting suspicious
about the happenings, by then news had reached
them that the movie is being screened at Devi
Sri Devi preview theatre and is being shot there
on video. On reaching the spot the producer and
director were denied entry inside on grounds that
a Telugu movie is being screened. Not convinced,
they forced their way through to find much to
their astonishment that Machchakkaaran was rolling
and it was being shot on video. This led to fracas
between the producers and those at the theatre
leading to a complaint being eventually launched
at the nearest police station. Nag Ravi has been
held responsible for the happenings as the film
reels were delivered to him and it was his responsibility.
