Kamala Ammal had been admitted at St. Isabel’s
Hospital a couple of days back after she complained
of uneasiness. Her sons Ram Kumar and Prabhu were
at her bedside when her end came.
Kamala Ammal could not come to terms with her
husband’s demise, and is said to have suffered
in silence during these years, unable to bear
with his absence. She even refrained from attending
public functions.
Her last public appearance was at the inauguration
of the statue of her husband Sivaji Ganesan and
later at the wedding of her grandson Vikram, actor
Prabhu’s son.
Of her two daughters, Shanti is living in the
US and Thenmozhi in Malaysia, whose arrival is
awaited, soon after which the date for cremation
is expected to be announced. Everyone from the
film industry is streaming in to pay homage to
her at the hospital.
