Thank god it’s Friday
       - Love is in the air this weekend
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
November 02, 2007
Just a week before the D day, the day which is sure to bring me a headache but for now we should very well be content with the already released movies or maybe just skip the theatres and save the money for the Deepavali releases. Only three movies have dared to hit the screens during this suicidal of a week,
Lucky You

I guess you would have known by now why I am referring it as the suicidal week as they will have only 6 days to rake in the moolah as the deepavali biggies are gearing up to fizzle them out. The movies which have been enjoying the absence of big movies like Marudhamalai, Malaikottai and Katradhu Tamil will have to be content with whatever is grossed this week as most probably many theatres will opt for the new biggies.

So what are the two movies that are releasing this Friday? Let’s get on to business.

Unaccompanied Minors

A movie which has taken one year to get a release in India, But this time I am sad not for the late arrival but the arrival itself. Why would anyone want to release this movie here? The story of handful of children snowed in an Airport on Christmas and how they plan the celebration of the holiday in the Airport. The trailers of the movie have been received well but little will the people know that the laughs in those two minutes will be the only instance in this 90 minutes movie.

Why you should see this movie? – The trailer impressed you and you can laugh for anything.

Why you shouldn’t? – Home alone DVDs are available for rental at a cheaper rate.

Lucky you

“Lucky you” is a romantic gambling comedy, and it stars Eric Bana and the extremely popular and likeable Drew Barrymore. The movie is directed by Curtis Hanson who is well known for his earlier works 8 mile and L. A. Confidential and when this talented director comes up with this movie, it ought to be good you think, but the movie is just about ok. It has many shortcomings but the stars as usual don’t disappoint and people who know gambling will love this. Lucky you was a below average grosser in the US and we can expect pretty much the same fate in the Indian box office too.

Why you should see the movie? – You are a big fan of Drew Barrymore and you love gambling.

Why you shouldn’t? – People who have no clue what poker is all about will surely get restless as the movie pretty much has poker all through.

Feast of love

Love Actually started it and in India too we have seen many multi story movies like Life in a Metro or Salaam-e-Ishq. This movie will also try to define love with a series of stories about different people and different situations. The movie casts an array of stars from Morgan Freeman to Greg Kinner to Radha Mitchell, and everyone does their job to perfection. The movie is not as good as Love actually but the movie is not that bad either, it’s recommended for those in love. The movie is a little slow and the story lacks the punch.

Why you should see it? – You have to see it for the acting of the stars and if you are in love too, then you have two reasons to see it.

Why you shouldn’t? – Because the movie became famous for its explicit sexual content, which would have been surely edited by the censors that will make up for almost half the movie.

This week again the Behindwoods - Pick of the Week will remain unpicked.

Will see you all next week, until then ciao!

Verdict – Feast of love is offered, Lucky you.
