Few
years back, the combination of Bharati Raja,
Vairamuthu and Ilayaraja rocked Kollywood.
The very mention of this combination indicated
success at the box office. Subsequently
each one had carved a niche for themselves
in the tinsel town.
Recently Bharati Raja’s son
Manoj got married to Nandana at Calicut.
This marriage was attended by all
the big wigs of Kollywood and Bharati
Raja’s friends. Ilayaraja graced
the occasion with his family. But
Vairamuthu, due to some unavoidable
personal reasons could not make it
to the wedding. Instead, he had sent
his assistant Bhaskar to the function
along with silk dhoti, shirt and a
gift of Rs one lakh to the bridegroom.
Bharati Raja being a very emotional
person had felt offended by this as
he was the director who had introduced
the lyricist to the cine industry
and had expected him to attend the
marriage.
Not
withstanding his absence, Bharati Raja at
once returned the money to the lyricist
adding one hundred rupees more. He was heard
commenting to someone that it is for the
blessings and friendship that he has invited
Vairamuthu and not for the money.
