Once in a blue moon do movies that
manage to kindle the patriotic sentiments
of a moviegoer are released. 2006
was one such year and Aran, though
did not reap box office success in
Tamil, ran for packed houses in Malayalam
and was critically acclaimed and received
with open arms by the public. It is
learnt that Aran’s sequel in
the pipeline and this time around,
the movie will be produced by Mohanlal.
Director Major Ravi, in a press statement,
announced that the sequel for Aran,
which was released as Keerthi Chakra
in Malayalam would be kick started
in August 2007 and Mohanlal will produce
the movie apart from playing the lead.
The sequel will be a drama based on
the plane hijacks.
Ravi
has even plans to direct a third part of
Aran once the sequel is finished. Aran III
will have Kamal, Mohanlal, and Vivek Oberai
in the lead. Ravi stated that talks are
on with a leading Telugu star to be cast
in the movie. The movie, which will be a
mega budget venture, will be directed in
4 languages – Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu,
and Tamil. Will that be a refreshing change
from the run of the mill movies? Aran III
is likely to commence its shoots in 2008.
