They
come from the same clan – dancers’
– and resorted to direction later.
But now it seems they are up in arms for
each other. Nothing personal though. If
you have not guessed it yet, we are discussing
about the famous dancer-turned-directors
Prabhudeva and Lawrence.
And their face off is over the dubbing
of a hit Telugu movie in Tamil.
Prabhudeva recently lodged a complaint
in the Nadigar Sangam against the
dubbed movie Latchiyam – Oru
Thayin Aasai, which was originally
directed by Lawrence in Telugu as
Style. The flick was Lawrence’s
second venture as a director. Don’t
be surprised if we told you that Prabhudeva
played the lead in the Telugu Style.
The movie, released in early 2006
was a stupendous hit, which eventually
made the producer itch to dub it into
Tamil to cash in on dancemasters’
popularity and to earn some extra
bucks.
So
what made Prabhudeva raise the matter to
Nadigar Sangam? It seems that Prabhudeva
has entered into an agreement preventing
the producer from dubbing the movie into
Tamil. Prabhudeva now wants the movie to
be banned since his agreement has been disregarded.
