In a land, where films are a religion by
itself and actors are the presiding deities,
the construction of a temple in the name
of Kushboo few years back does not come
as a surprise. But the same people who had
elevated her to a pedestal did not hesitate
before showing her the broomstick when she
expressed her opinion on morality to an
English magazine.
Controversies
further thickened when she agreed
to feature as Maniammai in ‘Periyar’.
This issue assumed enormous magnitude
when it was raised in the assembly
too. Even now, cinematographer Thangar
Bachan has refused to can her shots
while his assistants are covering
up for him during the sequences involving
Kushboo in the film.
Meanwhile maestro Ilayaraja has declined
to compose music for the film as he
is a hard core theist and believes
firmly in God. According to him, he
cannot do justice to this film as
this is all about an atheist and his
life.
At
this juncture, unit people aver that Kushboo
has refused to accept money for Periyar.
This would surely perplex her antagonists
who are hell bent upon creating trouble
for her even after the release of the film.
It is expected that this act of non acceptance
of remuneration for the film has won Kushboo
the hearts of many Periyar loyalists.
