The association between Tamil novels and novelists
with the Tamil film industry can be traced
long back when cinema was in the process of
evolving. Time and again, some real good works
in Tamil have been transformed to suit the
film format and they have even proved successful.
A few years back, Jayakanthan’s Sila Nerangalil
Sila Manidargal with Lakshmi and Srikanth brought home
many laurels. Sujatha’s novels have also been inspirational
to many filmmakers.
The latest novelist to join this elite list is Rajesh
Kumar who is a renowned author for crime thrillers. He
has a wide readership base all over the world among Tamil
speaking people. His novel by name ‘Iravu Nerathu
Vaanavil’ is being made in to a feature film which
will be directed by Naga Venkatesh. This is the first
time Rajesh Kumar’s novel is being made into a film.
‘Iravu Nerathu Vaanavil’ is a heroine based
film where there are four leading ladies around whom the
story is spun. Shooting is slated to commence in the first
week of July.
