Tamil movie for Asian best newcomer

It’s a known fact that Veyil was screened under the Tous les cinemas du monde (all the cinemas of the world) section in Cannes. Veyil was the first Tamil movie to be screened in this famous film festival, but the movie was in the non-competitive section. Still it was no mean achievement and it has unquestionably put Tamil cinema on the world map.

If this is considered to be great news for Kollywood then wait to hear about this. Veyil has been selected by the famous Shanghai film festival in the competitive section. The movie is being nominated in the Asian best newcomer’s award. This is indeed a very proud moment for Tamil cinema and all credits must go to Vasantha Balan the director of the movie and Director Shankar for believing in such an offbeat theme. The date of the screening of the movie is said to be on the 19th of June. Lets just pray that ‘Veyil’ is successful in enticing the judges and the viewers alike. All the best Vasantha balan.
