Director Pavithran introduced gory violent
scenes to Kollywood during the nineties. Readers
may recall the grotesque stunt sequence in
the film Sooriyan. Besides Sooriyan, he has
directed films like Indu, I love India which
received decent response at the box office.
In fact, director Shankar had apprenticed
under Pavithran.

Now this film-maker is ready for a second stint in Kollywood
with a movie that has an interesting title - Maatuthavani.
For those wondering about the peculiar title, here's the
explanation - it's a bus stand in Madurai and is quite
famous among people in the southern districts of Tamil
Nadu.
When sources were quizzed about the title of the film,
it was reported to be attributed to the recent success
of movies with Madurai as the scene of action. This film
will have many new faces and will be ready to hit the
screens by August.
