The on-screen chemistry, in Gajini, between
Surya and Asin captured all our hearts making
them the hottest pair in Tamil cinema. But
their good relationship was fugacious after
Asin declined Surya's Sillunu Oru Kadhal which
then went to Bhumika. So ever since Vel was
announced by director Hari with Surya and
Asin in the lead, speculations were rife that
Asin would again decline the offer.

Moreover, after setting her foot in Bollywood, with superstar
Aamir Khan in the Gajini remake, her appearance in this
Tamil movie seemed doubtful.
Rumors mills were working overtime speculating that Trisha
and Genelia also figured in the list of prospective heroines.
But director Hari scotched these rumors when our Behindwoods
correspondent asked him about this issue. The director
said that "Asin is the heroine of Vel and the shooting
would commence during the first week of June". It
seems Asin would complete her role in the Hindi Gajini
and would fly back to be a part of Vel. Fans and movie
buffs should be quite pleased as the mega hit Gajini pair
will set the big screen on fire again.
