In Kollywood the name of director Thangar
Bachchan can be considered as a euphemism
for realism. His movies are the finest examples
of pragmatism personified. The director’s
fondness for natural flavor and a practical
approach to issues can be palpable in all
his filmi endeavors. The latest proof of this
was revealed in the way the audio release
of ‘Pallikoodam’ was performed.
Perhaps, for the first time in the history of a Tamil
cinema or rather in the Indian cinema itself, the cassette
release function of Pallikoodam was held under the shade
of a tree in a place called Veemanur in Salem district.
The important dignitaries of this function were the school
children who were made to take solemn pledge that they
would be going to school everyday and study well. Thangar
sure stands tall among his contemporary film makers.
