The Kushboo–Maxim legal battle
got a new twist when the Supreme Court
refused to grant anticipatory bail
to Sunil Mehra, the editor of the
magazine. Admonishing him for publishing
intimidating material just for the
purpose of increasing the circulation
of the magazine, the learned judges
said that it amounted to invading
the privacy of a woman and bringing
her disrepute by indecent portrayal.
Mehra had filed a bail petition following
the summons received by him on a complaint
lodged by Kushboo. He approached the
apex court which dismissed his petition.
