Some relationships are looked down
on moral grounds and especially if
they involve film personalities they
acquire wider publicity. But, as time
passes by people just forget about
them. Take the case of ace cinematographer
cum director, Balu Mahendra. The man
who gave us beautiful films like Moodupani,
Moonram Pirai, Veedu and comedies
like Rettai Vaal Kuruvi and Raman
Abdullah has not been quite lucky
with box office success of late. |
|
|
His
recent films like Julie Ganapathy and Adhu
Oru Kanakkalam flopped miserably. He has
come down with cardiac and renal complications. |
|
For
nearly a decade now, Balu had been
living with TV actress Mownika following
differences with his wife. Several
attempts to patch up things by many
of his well wishers including his
protégés like Bala and
Amir have not borne fruit. While everyone
predicted that Mownika would leave
him in despair at his hour of crisis,
the lady stood by him with courage
and is nursing him with tender care.
She has cut down on her busy television
commitments just to be by his side. |

She
does not mind spending all her money to
ensure that the bedridden Balu is back to
what he does best – capture poetry
on camera.
That looks straight out of a Balu Mahendra
film, doesn’t it? Inexplicable emotions
ruling over social mores. |
