Cheran has been evading his fans' requests for quite some time now. His fans wanted to start an association in his honor and the very understated and low key person that Cheran is, he has turned down any such suggestion. He is the type who believes in the quality of his

products speaking for themselves. Loud banners, cut-outs, titles like Kalaippuyal and other such stunts hold little water in the mind of this man.All his movies have been carriers of social or personal messages. Right from the days of Desiya Geetham to Thavamai Thavamirindhu, all his movies have made people think, without boring them to death. Thavamai Thavamirindhu had dealt very sensitively with the struggles of a father who spares no effort to educate his sons.
Now he is ready to touch everyone's minds with his next offering. Mayakkanadi releases this April. The message this time round is said to revolve around youngsters who try to break into the cine field, making a mess of their lives in the process. Nothing else about the movie has come to light.
Come April 14th and Mayakkanadi will grace theaters. Along with this a major announcement is expected. Owing to long standing pressure from his fans Cheran has finally given consent for a fans' association to take shape. Fans' Association is however a misnomer for the organization that will be formed. It is going to be along the lines of a Narppani Iyakkam or goodwill society that will engage in social activities. It is only befitting that a film maker like Cheran who is known to give social messages through his films should head such an organization.
