The much-awaited movie Periyar, embroiled in controversies, is expected to hit the silver screens on March 30 according to actor Satyaraj, who has played the lead role. All eyes are on this DMK-led Government-sponsored movie due to the negative hype it evoked from various quarters of the society.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had seen the movie and observed that some important events in Thanthai Periyar's life should be added.
Meanwhile, EVKS Elangovan, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Periyar's nephew, has voiced his unhappiness as Periyar's first wife Nagammai who played an important role in Vaikom Porattam has been side-lined in the movie. Late Actor M. R Radha's son, actor Radha Ravi has also expressed similar sentiments. According to him, M R Radha was a close associate of Thanthai Periyar and has played an important role in Periyar's life.
Notwithstanding all these hiccups, Actor Satyaraj is confident that the movie will see the light of day on March 30, 2007. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
