Music composer A R Rahman was awarded for his contribution to music by the Limca book of awards for the year 2006. Recently a function to commemorate the launch of the 18th edition of Limca Book of awards was held at Delhi. People from different disciplines

who have excelled in their respective fields were honoured with awards at this function. Besides A R Rahman, the other awardees in this function were Mahesh Boopathy from Tennis, George Abraham who works for the visually impaired, Mary Kom, a boxing champion who has won three international titles and Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, an eminent cardiologist.
