It has been ruling the box offices ever since its release. For months together since Pongal, Pokkiri managed to reap a total of Rs. 17.4 crores in hard cash from the box office. Without warning, there came Paruthiveeran setting the cash registers ringing. As a result, apparently Pokkiri's collections these days are plummeting.

Paruthi Veeran is a declared hit and its collections are invariable in A, B, and C centers. Produced with a 5 crore budget, the movie was expected to gross 10 crores earlier. However, trade pundits forecast that Paruthi Veeran will leap ahead in collections and will close in on 15 crores in no time.
To cater to the tremendous response, extra prints of the movie have been ordered, 7 for Madurai region and 5 for Trichy region. Running packed houses, the movie, further, is expected to break all the collection records at the box office this year.
Now that Sivaji is all set to release on April 12, Pokkiri and Paruthi Veeran's collections are expected to slump eventually. Out of which Pokkiri is heading for its 100th day in theatres where Sivaji's release is slated.
Though Sivaji has not been sold in Tamil Nadu yet, it is quite obvious that the movie will hit the screens in maximum number of theatres in the city. Now, will the theatre owners overlook Pokkiri owing to Sivaji's grandeur release, in which case Pokkiri's 100th day will be limited to a few theatres in Chennai city?
