Karthik waiting for Maniratnam's call

If you thought Karthik fit the bill perfectly in Paruthiveeran, he was not intended to be just that. Before stepping into acting, Karthik took direction classes from Maniratnam and was assisting the veteran to be trained as a director. Destiny has other plans though for him.

Spotted by Ameer, he took to mainstream cinema with Paruthiveeran and the rest is history. Now that Paruthiveeran is enjoying a grand opening in the theatres as unusual to any other newcomer and his movie, Karthik is obviously full of beans. However, his mentor and guru Mani had not viewed the movie yet to voice his opinion on Karthik's performance.
Though Karthik personally invited Mani for the preview show, owing to prior commitments, Mani could not make it. Instead, Mani promised that he would watch his disciple's movie in theatres and let him know of his opinion. Nevertheless, Mani sent text messages after hearing the initial box office reports.
Karthik is these days waiting for that important call from mentor Mani. In the same breadth of a 10th grader waiting nail-bitingly for his exam results. Good luck Karthik.
