This generation of viewers may not be aware
of the towering personality of Kamaraj and his
selfless contribution to the welfare of Tamilnadu.
His astuteness made him the confidante of great
national leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
who consulted him for several issues. He also
skillfully guided the political set up after
the death of Nehru. Hence, he was popularly
called the Kingmaker. His rule as CM of Tamilnadu
could be truly called the golden era as the
state galloped ahead in all spheres. For all
his political power, he remained extremely austere
and his simplicity and commitment to Gandhian
values was legendary.

Ramana
Communications had produced a film a couple of
years ago titled Kamaraj in Tamil. Richard Madhuram
played Kamaraj, Charu Hassan, Mahendran and many
others also acted. Ilayaraja had scored the music.
The film won a state award also.
Following the overwhelming response to the film,
the producer has decided to release the film in
English keeping the global audience in mind. The
title will be ‘The Kingmaker.’ |
