The Censor Board has filed a case against director
S.J. Suryah for using stills from scenes that
were deleted from the film, New. According to
rules, such deleted scenes should not be used
for promos, trailers or posters. Director S
J Suryah had defied the orders and hence the
board had filed a complaint with the Mambalam
police station. The case came up for hearing
at the Saidapet court before the 17th Metropolitan
Magistrate. Suryah did not appear and his lawyer
claimed that he was busy with shooting. The
public prosecutor wanted him to be present compulsorily
and therefore Judge Gayathri issued summons
to Suryah to be present for the hearing on April
17. If he fails to turn up on that day, a non-bailable
warrant would be issued.
