It seems like Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu has been jinxed
from the beginning. The film shuffles from one
mishap to another. After the suicide attempt by
producer Kaja Maideen, the film was taken over
by director Gowtham Menon himself and then Seventh
Channel Narayanan stepped in to complete the film.
The audio release was held on February 5. Now,
the High Court of Madras has issued an interim
order against releasing the film. The reason?
Kaja Maideen who had obtained finance of Rs. 2.60
crores from Mahendra Kumar Jain failed to repay
the sum. Even after repeated reminders, Maideen
was silent. Meanwhile, he transferred the film
to Narayanan to be released under his banner.
The total outstanding mounted up to Rs. 3.18 crores. |
In
his petition before Honorable Justice Chockalingam,
Jain prayed that the film copies should not be
delivered from the Prasad Labs and the release
should be stayed till his dues are settled. Hearing
the petition, the Judge ordered interim stay.
It is quite surprising that more and more people
involved in the background for film production
are approaching the courts for settling their
claims. It is high time the industry got an institutional
framework for carrying on business and settling
disputes. Trust of word and faith are becoming
a thing of the past. |
