The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized
Actress Sushmita Sen’s Land Cruiser and
has asked the actress to pay a customs duty of
20 lakhs. According the department’s sources,
the luxury car’s value and date of manufacture
was given wrongly by the owner. The car was imported
by Haren Choksi, the dealers, and later sold to
the actress. “The vehicle was brought into
the country under the transfer of residence (TR)
scheme that mandates that the vehicle may not
be sold before two years of personal use by the
importer,” the sources added. Earlier, a
similar case was registered against Actor Sunil
Shetty and his fleet of Land Cruisers seized.
