Language is no barrier to talented Nandita Das.
Telugu, Tamil, Hindi or English, give her a good
role, the diva is in her elements. She has willingly
signed up one such role in debutant Director Suman
Gosh’s Padakkhep. For Das, this will be
her third Bengali film. Earlier she had acted
in Ritu Parno Gosh’s Shubbo Muhurrat and
Mrinal Sen’s Amar Bhuban. Says Das: “Padakkhep
deals with an issued that is so relevant—the
marginalization of the elderly people, especially
those neglected by the younger generation in pursuit
of career.” Das is currently working in
Santosh Sivan’s untitled English film and
in Chitra Palekar’s Marathi film based on
the novel by Mahasewta Devi. |
