Sources say the action sequences include car chases, scenes
shot within a jail etc. However, the team was reluctant
to let out more details.
The entire movie will be shot in Malaysia covering most
of the exotic locales. Some of the places the crew plans
to cover are the Batu caves, Damansara and Kuala Lumpur.
They also intend to film around KLCC, the majestic building
and one of Malaysia’s biggest attractions. Genting
Highlands and the Cameron Highlands are also included.
Cinematography will be a highlight of the movie and some
new techniques will be used.
The movie, an out-and-out student project, will be produced
under the banner MVS production and is being produced
by Muthu and Y.B. Huan. Vickneswaran will assist Prasad,
the writer-cum-director, and Keyur Doshi will wield the
camera. In spite of this being a student project, the
movie will be made and finished with some of the best
facilities available in the Malaysian film industry. For
instance, the film will be edited by one of Malaysia’s
top editor who has worked in movies such as Puteri Gunung
Ledang and Cermin "Amir". The re-recording will
be done at the Digital Waves studio, which is again a
standard facility, used by filmmakers. The film will be
brought out in the VCD/DVD format.
Though it is a students’ initiative from KDU College
(Damansara), Nirwana, KBU Colleges, and top filmmakers
of Malaysia will be guiding them along the way ensuring
quality control. Vettaiyaan is sure to be received well
and has the potential to topple a few records in Malaysia.
We’ll know the results by 2008 and that’s
not far. |
