Sivaji
is said to have amassed a mind-boggling
Rs. 25 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. This
is hands-down a national record, as no movie
has collected such a huge amount in a single
state. Even the much-hyped and successful
Dhoom 2 grossed about Rs. 30-35 crores all
over India. |

Sivaji,
which is said to be the most expensive production in the
Indian film history, is expected to gain more than Rs.
130 to 140 crores in theatrical release alone across the
world. And remember that the amount which we are talking
about does not include the black tickets, which if included
the amount would reach well over Rs. 200 crores. Sivaji
has paved way for other Tamil movies to follow its trait
and has also shown the power of marketing, as the movie
which got released in Mumbai and Delhi pulled much bigger
crowds than the Hindi biggie Jhoom Barabaar Jhoom.
As expected Sivaji is rewriting every collection records
thus far and within one week of its release it has been
termed a blockbuster. And not just within India, even
abroad, the movie has spelt magic, and became the first
Tamil movie to feature in the UK top ten. Hearty congratulations
and thanks to Rajinikanth, Shankar and AVM for taking
Tamil movie to the international scenario. |
