Chennai
28 has survived the Sivaji tsunami and also
the unexpected rains in the city and continues
its impressive run in theaters much to the
delight of producer S.P.B.Charan who tastes
success for the first time as producer.
Our correspondent caught up with the elated
Charan for a casual chat and got his thoughts
on Chennai 28’s success at the box
office. |

He said that it was an honor to be
the Last Man standing after the arrival of Sivaji;
it is no mean thing to be doing reasonable business
when the Superstar is around. The success of Chennai
28 has proved that a film made on the strong foundation
of a good story and script will do well, no matter
what the circumstances or competition. We asked
him whether the Superstar had seen the movie to
which Charan replied that Rajini had watched the
movie just the day before. When asked whether Rajini
saw Chennai 28 because that was the only movie competing
with Sivaji Charan was quick to laugh it off. He
believed that his small movie cannot contest with
Sivaji at any level. Rajini had watched the movie
only because there was good opinion surrounding
it. Superstar always supports good efforts and this
was no different. He proudly added that Rajini had
passed very positive comments on the team’s
effort. These words would surely have inspired Charan
to aim higher. |

Charan
was quick to credit all the success to the entire team,
especially Venkat Prabhu. He also showered praise on RJ
Shiva and Premji Amaran for their brilliant debuts; key
factors in the success of Chennai28. Finally he thanked
the entire media (electronic and print) for giving the
right kind of support to his movie, the positive reviews
and the constant follow ups which helped build public
opinion around the movie.
That was the most that we could get from Charan, a happy,
successful and busy man these days. We hope that S.P.B.Charan
and Capital Film Works will become names to reckon with
in the Kollywood very soon. |
