The
International Indian Film Academy (IIFA)
award ceremony, which is considered to be
Bollywood's equivalent to the Oscar award,
was recently held at Yorkshire, England.
The show, a tremendous success as always,
was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, who is the
IIFA ambassador. |

Little
did we all know that the IIFA decided to felicitate Superstar
Rajinikanth with a special award, for his tremendous popularity
among Tamil-speaking audiences across the world and his
incomparable fan following. In fact the idea to award
Rajini was mooted by none other than Amitabh Bachchan
himself.
But Rajinikanth is said to have turned down the offer
humbly. In a recent interview Big B admitted this news,
"It's true we wanted to honor Rajinikanth at Yorkshire
this year, but unfortunately he could not make it due
to the release of Sivaji - The Boss. But we will someday,
for he deserves many distinctions." Getting such
a word of praise from Big B, whom Rajini considers his
idol is indeed bigger than any awards. |
