This is what the latest big sequel of Hollywood
is about. Enough of superheroes, pirates and
their sea Godesses; its time for some stylish
action (James Bond style). Ocean’s Thirteen
opened this weekend, the fourth sequel to
hit theaters this summer and going by the
trend this one too must do quite well. However
there are reasons to believe that the movie
might not do that well after all. We will
give you the reasons.

First comes the predictability factor. Everyone knows
what they are going to get with Ocean’s Thirteen.
Hot Hollywood hunks on a ‘who is smarter’
race, coming up trumps at the end, their blazers and hairstyle
all immaculately in place. This is what was on offer with
Ocean’s Eleven and Twelve too. When it happened
in Ocean’s Eleven it was new and everyone enjoyed
it. But when the same crew tried to repeat the act in
Ocean’s Twelve the public was not willing to shell
out their money. So it has to be seen how many people
actually shake off the Ocean’s Twelve blues and
decide to try out the new installment. Also there is competition
in the form of Captain Jack Sparrow who still has some
life left in him and some other new releases which are
doing surprisingly well.
But there are also reasons why Ocean’s Thirteen
is likely to do well at the box office. First the star
presence. The list of the men on screen is enough to make
any woman feel weak in her knees. Pitt and Clooney would
suffice to do that but here you have Matt Damon and others
thrown in for good measure and for admirers of vintage
sophistication there is Al Pacino, a first timer in this
franchise. The sheer pulling power of the stars might
make the movie a good grosser.
Which way the people think? We will know early next week.
