Spirituality
& Rajni: A director's hopeful project |

It might be common news today that
director K Raghavendra Rao's film,
Pandurangadu is waiting to hit the
floors, but for the confirmation
of the actor. Touted to be a devotional
film, the veteran director is planning
to make this film as a bilingual,
and the budgets sure are humungous.
Given the scale of the production,
it is but obvious that the first
choice for such a film would be
the Superstar (fans will recall
his true-to-life performance in
Raghavendra as well).
|
|
|
Sources
in fact reveal that the director has already
approached the Superstar, who is currently
busy with the film Sivaji. The director
is also said to have narrated the story
to the star, who responded with: "Now
I am completely into the production of Sivaji
and until I am done with this film, I won't
be able to think of anything else."
Though Rajni has asked the director to wait
till he finishes Sivaji. |
|
Industry talks reveal that the director
is trying to rope in Rajnikanth
and Mohan Babu for the lead roles.
The film is based on the NTR starrer,
Panduranga Mahatyam.
But isn't this just enough information
for the rumour mills to start working
overtime? Now, many film buffs in
Tollywood are speculating with various
permutations and combinations of
stars, wondering who the director
will choose if they don't manage
to rope in Rajni.
|
|
|
|
But
close friends of Raghavendra Rao assure
the media that the director is very keen
on working on this film with the Superstar.
Given the fact that Rajni is a very spiritually
inclined person, the role would probably
fit him to a T. |
|
|
But the question of the moment is,
will Rajni accept such a role finally?
After the fiasco with the film Baba,
that also moved along similar themes
of spiritualism, would Rajni dare
to risk another film on similar
lines? KRR, however, is hoping otherwise.
But like any practical person, the
director does have a back-up plan
in place. If not Rajni then looks
like the director will have to go
ahead with NTR Jr in the lead. Like
father like son, not a bad option
we think!

As
of now, the status of the film is the tentative
titles that have been registered. Under
the banner of RK Film Associates, the titles,
Sri Panduranga Mahatyam, Pandurangadu and
Ranga Panduranga have been registered. Watch
this space for the final announcement of
the title. |
