There is no denying that Tamilians
are a smitten lot when they come
face to face with their marquee
stars. They like to shower their
appreciation and go overboard in
their show of affection. Nevertheless,
shooting for Tamil films has normally
been a disciplined and well-organized
affair. This opinion seems to have
taken a beating if one were to go
by a recent incident.
A song in a Tamil film, Thimir,
was being shot in the Koyambedu
market in Chennai.

The
film has hunky Vishal and sexy Reema in
the lead. As per the lyrics of the song,
the heroine teases the hero along with comedian
Vadivelu and stunt master Kanal Kannan.
While shooting was in progress, there was
commotion in the huge crowd which had gathered
to watch the proceedings. The problem was
compounded because people had got on to
anything they could climb on. |

When the situation was turning unmanageable,
the police did a mild lathi charge
to disperse the crowd and restore
order so that the unit could continue
working. There was mild tension in
the area due to the police action.
What is however worth noting is that
in Malayalam movies, even when shooting
is held in busy places like shopping
malls, the crowd is very orderly and
hardly disturbs the work of the film
unit. |

Right
opposite is the situation in Telugu. It
is interesting that a Telugu film with Mahesh
babu in the lead was shifted from Hyderabad
and is being shot here apparently because
it was not possible for them to continue
there. Little mercies!
