Mammooty

the selection procedure. |

At
last, someone found the spunk to speak out.
Yes, Malayalam megastar chose the big stage
at the IIFA held in Dubai to express his
anguish at the marked absence of good films
from other languages. He lamented that only
Hindi films were being given preference
and coverage while the vernacular medium
has a veritable treasure of films which
deal with emotions in great depth. |
|
|
While maintaining a dignified stance
and congratulating the organizers
he wondered whether events like
IIFA which showcased only Bollywood
products would send out wrong signals
that there were no films worth mentioning
in other languages in the country.
That was a big insult to the regional
language industry which also make
good films.
Mammooty stood by his words and
said that he did not care how the
biggies of Bollywood felt about
his tirade.

He
felt that he was justified in taking this
stance. On an earlier edition of the IIFA,
he had refused to participate at an awards
night along side Mithun Chakraborty as he
said then that it would be an insult to
Malayalam. |
