Yesterday, Kollywood was struck
with a new rumour of the kidnap
of actress Vindhiya with commandos
having to rescue her. If you can
recall, Vindhiya made her debut
in Tamil cinema with the film Sangamam,
though she did not make it big in
cinema after that despite having
worked in subsequent films. In the
recent elections, she campaigned
vigorously for the then ruling government,
hogging the limelight for close
to two months.

Yesterday,
rumours were abuzz that Vindhiya was kidnapped
from her Chennai residence a few days back
and secretly deported to Christianpettain
near Vellore by a few unidentified persons,
and was kept in an isolated bungalow. |
|
Vindhiya's parents are said to have a
lodged a complaint at a police station
in the city, following which a special
wing, duly appointed for this purpose,
sprung into action and rushed to the bungalow
in question early in the morning. With
the help of the district commando force,
the special wing managed to rescue her
from the kidnappers and bring her back
to her residence in Chennai.

The news soon spread like wildfire, with
many people rushing to the scene of action
in Christianpet and doing their bit of investigation.
Some searched in Vellore and Katpadi as
well, in the hopes of Vindhiya being kept
secretly captive there. Some even enquired
in a few local hotels, creating a quite
a stir in the neighbourhood.
When contacted, the district Superintendent
of police Mr. Ashok Kumar denied any such
incident and Vindhiya couldn't be contacted
for comments. |
