IT's
Hide and Seek with Bachchans!! |

The Bachchans, for some reason or
the other, are always in the news.
This time, it is the heavy IT scanner
that has brought them to the limelight.
Fortunately or unfortunately, the
Income Tax Department is attacking
the Bachchans with fervour with
reports being sent to the family,
while looking into the respective
pan numbers of Jaya and Abishek
Bachchan as well.
The IT department zeroed in on the
family, thanks to a pair of sunglasses
that are reported to be worth Rs
2.7 lakhs and the issue over his
Juhu bungalow.

|
When
claims such as these are made, a response
is but expected, as was the case with the
Big B who wrote to the Mumbai I-T Commissioner,
SC Gupta saying that the reports were inaccurate
as it is "highly improbable" for
sunglasses to be worth so much. And he also
clarified the claims of owning a 1000 pens.

|
The surprising aspect in this imbroglio
is the fact that the letter was written
to the IT department a day after the IT
department themselves denied the release
of notices to the Big B regarding his
sunglasses.
Why the caution Big B? Perhaps it is better
to be safe than sorry, considering the
fact that the IT department is quite ruthless
when it comes to tax notices, which were
even sent last year while Amitabh was
battling for his life at the ICU last
year.

|
Already, thanks to recent buzz over the
notices, ardent Bachchan fans demonstrated
in protest in parts of Uttar Pradesh. Amar
Singh, Samajwadi Party general secretary
and also a close family friend converted
this is into yet another political vendetta
saying that it was the Congress that was
trying to "malign Amitabh", calling
this "ridiculous behaviour by them".
The current reality is however that notices
have been sent, not for sunglasses though.
The latest set of notices sent to the Bachchan
household only asks for information regarding
tax papers, stamp duty, cheque numbers and
details of the penalty amount paid when
"Jalsa" was transferred to Jaya
Bachchan's name.
We will only have to wait and see if there
is any truth at all in the notices issues
by the IT department.
