The man who poured vitriol
on Tamil cinema is suddenly
warming up to it. At the audio
release of a new movie called
Ilakkanam, founder of PMK,
Dr. Ramadoss held forth on
how Tamil cinema should raise
its standards and that of
audience tastes. Receiving
the audio cassettes and CDs
of the film, he said that
the lyricist would be awarded
Rs. 1 lakh by the Kongu Tamil
Trust for writing in chaste
Tamil without insertions from
other languages (read English).
He announced that this award
would be instituted annually.
