Marudhanayagam:
Finally a saviour from Los Angeles?

There
comes a film in every actor’s life
which consumes all his passion. Although
Kamal has come up with stunning performances,
each excelling the previous one, it is Marudhanayagam
which is his magnum opus. Despite hitting
the floors nearly a decade ago, the film
was halted presumably due to financial crunch.
Several attempts to revive the film have
not been fruitful. |
|
|
While many are willing to
produce, knowledgeable circles
have indicated that Kamal
wants a free rein in the creative
aspect with no strings attached.
It is this stubborn attitude
which is keeping prospective
producers away. The story
of the warrior-prince would
definitely be attractive especially
to the younger generation
who know too little about
those who fought the colonial
yoke.
Not to be cowed down by circumstances,
Kamal who has been camping
in the US recently, scouted
for interested persons who
would join him in Marudhanayagam.

|
He showed them the half-hour footage
which had been canned so far and requested
them in helping him finish the film
in a grandiose manner. Now, there
is unconfirmed news that an American
production company based in Los Angeles
has expressed interest in the project
and invited Kamal for further discussion.
Kamal would soon be talking to the
officials of the company. Hope the
American mannah would help Marudhanayagam
see the light of day! |
