If you have had a chance to
see Surya in his latest TVS
Star City bike ad, in his
Gajini get-up, be it the hoardings
or the advertisement on television,
then you must have wondered
how he got his tonsured look
back from the successful film
Gajini. Considering the fact
that he is currently shooting
for his film, Jillenu Oru
Kadhal, how then did he get
such an authentic look back?
When TVS approached Surya
for an advertisement that
played primarily on the Gajini
gimmick, with the same director
Murugadoss of Gajini directing
the ad, it was hard for Surya
to refuse.

There began the thought process, and
Surya got help from the most unexpected
of quarters! It was none other than
Aamir khan who came to the rescue.
Surya remembered that while shooting
for the film Mangal Pandey, where
Aamir sported long hair, he actually
posed in an ad with a completely bald
head. Surya immediately called Aamir
for help, who suggested the same make-up
artiste who was responsible for such
dramatic looks for the veteran Bollywood
actor. And so, Vidhyadhar, the make-up
artiste, came down from Bombay, and
took nearly two hours to help Surya
get the Gajini look back. And therein
lies the secret for the ad. We wonder
then, exactly how much did Surya charge
for this ad? Two crores perhaps? |
