With the amount of delay this
film unconditionally attracted,
one wondered if it would simply
remain an illusion. But looks
like the film is finally set
for release in August. With
the added hype of veteran
director K Balachander’s
101st film added on to the
film, this film has Uday Kiran
and Vimala Raman, who is an
NRI from Australia, playing
the lead. Prakashraj, who
has lately been embroiled
in a lot of controversies
regarding the finances involved
for the release, is the producer
for the film, as there were
no other takers for the film
then.

Many sources state that the reason
for the delay of the film is the huge
losses he incurred with his earlier
film, Kanda Naal Mudhal, that was
an average hit in the cities, but
did not fare well in the B and C centres.
K Balachander’s last film, Parthale
Paravasam bombed at the box office,
despite a stellar star cast with Madhavan,
Simran, Sneha and Kamal Hassan playing
a cameo role. Starkly opposed to that
is Poi, with newcomers in the lead.
Perhaps this will prove to be a better
success than his 100th film. Poi is
being produced by Gemini Kiran in
Telugu under the Anandi Arts banner. |
