After Thalainagaram, Sundar C’s next
project in the pipeline is Veerappu - a remake
of Malayalam movie Yutham. Though this Malayalam
film was dubbed in Tamil earlier, director
Badri, finding it to be too good to be shoved
aside, made a daring attempt to remake it.
In this action flick, which also has a good
storyline, Gopika is playing the lead role
opposite Sundar C.

Veerappu’s promos promise oodles of crisp and punch
dialogues. A particular one being – "Maadiyilendhu
thuppuna kudisai mela vizhum aana kudisailendhu thuppuna
maadiye vizhum.” Such dialogues have been attracting
attention from all quarters. But recently, there has been
an uproar raised by some sections of the society claiming
that the dialogues were part of Kasi Anandan’s famous
book “Narukugal”. The author, a Sri Lankan
Tamil, is strongly supported by the Viduthalai Siruthaigal
Iyakkam in this issue. The supporters rued that the least
that could be done is to acknowledge the source of dialogues,
if not compensate for it. There are also talks doing rounds
that they may approach the courts for redressal.
However, source close to Veerappu have strongly denied
this allegation. The director, Badri, said that he is
unaware of the book in question though he has heard about
the author. The helpless director also said that with
the titles already released, it is now impossible to include
or acknowledge the source of dialogue. |
