who in his short career has earned the reputation
of being a maverick, is again causing ripples. |

Vijaykanth’s
first movie as an MLA is not going
to be a walk in the park. Titled
Dharmapuri and being directed by
Perarasu, the film faced some very
fundamental but serious issues before
it got to the production floor.
The director reportedly had to search
hard and long to find a heroine
who was willing to act with the
actor turned politician. The first
choice is said to have been Nayantara
who reportedly refused because she
was full up with other commitments.
She also is said to have expressed
her disinclination to work with
senior heroes.

Other leading ladies also echoed the
same sentiments. But the reason behind
their refusal is speculated to be
something else. The fear that the
movie will have too many political
overtones seems to have put the heroines
off. Obviously heroines prefer to
remain clear of politics at least
for the time being.
Meanwhile Perarasu has decided upon
a certain Laksmi Rai to don the role.
He also has gone ahead and issued
a warning to all those who refused
his offer that they will surely regret
their decision once the movie hits
the theatres. |

Whether that turns out to be true, only
time will tell. For now the movie is in
the making and Vijayakanth is back in familiar
territory after the bustle and victory in
the elections. |
