The
trio of Shankar (in the role of
producer), Simbudevan (debutant
director) and Vadivelu (in a double
role) has taken the Tamil film industry
by storm. Their movie ‘Imsai
Arasan 23rd Pulikesi’ is doing
fantastic business throughout the
state. The movie is a radical departure
from the tried and tested formula
movies that have been failing miserably
all through the year.
The news is that Imsai Arasan collections
are likely to surpass those achieved
by the latest hits of many of the
prominent stars and may get close
to the collections of recent blockbusters.

That
may seem to be a bit of an exaggeration,
but the fact remains that Imsai Arasan is
the biggest hit of the year so far and it
is not showing any signs of slowing down
with family audience thronging the theatres. |

Shankar, the producer, is reportedly
so happy with the success this movie
has achieved that he has decided to
go in for the production of movies
that have such daring and different
themes. As it is evident from this
movie, Shankar is not shy of giving
young directors a chance, even debutants.
So these days debutants can be seen
crowding Shankar’s office in
Chennai in hope of getting a break.
Meanwhile, riding the crest of success
is Vadivelu, who seems very satisfied
with his first movie as the hero.

When
asked whether he planned to do more and more
hero roles in the future, he was very careful
with his reply. He reportedly said that it
was comedy that got him so far in the industry
and he would never leave it at any cost. |
