Yuvan
Shankar Raja, touted as the man who is the
right mix of his illustrious father and
the genius of AR Rahman, is probably the
busiest music director in Kollywood. He
has several projects lined up and has delivered
hits consistently. |

|
So
much is the extent of his success
that, he is now seen as the person
who breaks long relationships that
directors tend to have with music
composers. Kollywood has a history
of director-music director combo.
Some directors just find a music
director who understands their needs
and stick with them. This has proved
in long and illustrious combinations
in the past – like Manirathnam
– AR Rahman, Saran-Bharadwaj
etc. It is only on very rare occasions
that the pairing gets disturbed.

Yuvan,
with his fantastic music, has managed
to make directors long for his work.
In the process, he has broken the
long relationships between directors
and music directors. P Vasu, a director
who had long used Vidhya Sagar’s
music for his movies, including hits
like Chandramukhi and Paramasivan,
has now signed up Yuvan. The young
Yuvan Shankar Raja will now score
the music for Vasu’s Thotall
Poo Malarum. Incidentally, this is
also the movie where P Vasu is launching
his son, Sakthi, as a hero. |

Similarly,
Lingusamy also had a long and fruitful relationship
with Vidhya Sagar. However, since the great
success of ‘Sandakozhi’, the
talented director has started to prefer
Yuvan over Vidhyasagar. Deepavali, which
is being produced by Lingusamy, has Yuvan
composing its music. Ezhil is directing
this movie Ezhil himself had such a relationship
with Vidhyasagar, prior to this project.
