In
the wake of Mumbai serial blasts on
Tuesday, Bollywood celebrities gathered
to donate blood and pep up the spirit
of Mumbaikars. Shabana Azmi, Lyricist
Javed Akthar, Actor Rahul Bose, Parvin
Dabbas and Rakhi Sawant rushed to
hospitals where victims were being
treated and offered to donate blood.
Rahul Bose, who offered to travel
by local train the next day for a
news channel said: “The common
man is not afraid of such incidents.

What
scares him most is the prospect of losing
jobs. Mumbaikars are resilient and they
have showed it time and again. However,
what they are afraid of is the communal
riots for terror has no face at all and
it is the innocent who bear the brunt of
a blind backlash.” Rahul rushed to
Babha Hospital but the hospital didn’t
need blood.

Javed
Akhtar and his wife Shabana Azmi also
went to Bhabha Hospital, as well as
to KEM Hospital to donate blood. “We
went there, but the hospitals told
us that blood was not needed,”
said Javed. “I am shocked at
the mindset of the people who could
carry out such an inhuman act. I want
to tell these terrorists that although
they have been successful in killing
people, they cannot kill the spirit
of Mumbai. The unity of Mumbaikars
and their sense of solidarity are
evident for all to see,” he
added.

girl Rakhi Sawant too visited the victims.
The girl went to Nanavati hospital to donate
blood.
Earlier during the Kargil war too, many
of our heroes went to the border area to
cheer up our soldiers. In times of crisis,
everyone in the industry shows that they
too have hearts and that they too are made
of the common stuff that unites all in brotherhood.
